Unalog

Unalog is a social bookmarking site where users can create an account, save their favorite sites, and see what other people are saving. Your account can be public or private, and various search features help you sift through the web to find other sites you might like.

Unalog’s creators haven’t worked too hard to make it very flashy or exciting. The colors are white and grey, and everything is presented in a list that scrolls down. The front page lists the most recently added links in descending order starting with today. There doesn’t seem to be any rating system. Unalog doesn’t have a “most popular” page.

The second page is an alphabetical listing of users. On this page, you can look at how many links they’ve added, what they’ve added most recently, and you can make a link to their account. If there’s somebody who usually posts stuff you like, you can link to their account directly. Each profile on this listing tells you what tags they’ve used, and how many links in each tag.

There aren’t a whole lot of tags on Unalog, but most of them are tech-oriented. Unalog would be a good site for techy people. There’s quite a bit of specific information available and Unalog makes it easy to search. Among other search functions, you can search for links by date, so that you can get rid of links to outdated information.

If you have a tech blog or site, Unalog would be pretty useful. You could post your links here where other people who might be interested in your site can find them. It seems like a pretty small community on Unalog, so you could do some good networking.

The site warns that it is beta and goes down sometimes. When I was on the site looking around, several times, it wouldn’t display pages or would move very slowly. Still, Unalog is a relatively new social bookmarking site. The developers are always working new features to improve the site. The “news” section is full of information about new stuff they’re working on, and has video tutorials about how to do things like install Zotero, a program that saves a bibliography with your links.
