Hyperlinkomatic

If you want to get your account on Hyperlinkomatic, you’d better get started pretty soon. They’re worried that their load it getting too heavy. In the future they might stop accepting new sign-ups. That means it’s, “For a limited time only, sign up now!”, only they don’t say it like that. They’re working to add bandwidth to the site, and make sure everybody can upload their bookmarks safely.

What happened was that, only one month after the site was started in the summer of 2004, they got more users than they expected. They got boingboinged and got A LOT more users than they expected to get, so for a while people were having trouble saving new links. The webmasters responded quickly and got it under control, and sent emails directly to individual users to let them know what was going on.

Hyperlinkomatic allows you to save, categorize, share and publish your favorite website links. For each link that you save, you can write a description and tag it, and for marketers trying to draw traffic to their sites, this means free advertising to a hungry market.

HLOM, as the site is called, is simple and easy to use. You don’t have to be a tech geek to figure it out. To activate an account it takes less than 2 minutes, and the system makes saving and organizing your links as easy as it can be. You can upload links from your computer and access the site from anywhere in the world (with a computer that’s connected to the internet, that is!). You can simply download their “grabber,” a button that automatically saves the site for you.

The account display screen is attractive and easy. Although it’s got all the buttons right up at the top for you to click easily, the site has a tutorial that walks you through each function. HLOM offers all kinds of advanced search options so that you can find what you’re looking for.

HLOM doesn’t care too much what you put on the site. The newest links go to the top of the list, and everything is tagged so that people can find what they want and sift through what they don’t want. Any user that posts obvious spam will be blocked, but websites advertising businesses are okay.

Hyperlinkomatic likes articles, weird news stories, strange sites with unique content, as well as all the regular health, tech and business sites that you see everywhere.

On HLOM you can put Google adwords on your links, which can increase your traffic from clicks.
