Just as the name implies, Technorati is the highest of the high tech. It’s not just a social bookmarking site, it’s a great tool for web developers and bloggers. You can keep track of your bookmarks and share them with the world. You can also get more out of Technorati’s special features.

Technorati’s main focus is blogs. You can use it to find out what people are saying about your products or websites. It offers up to date information on a wide variety of subjects, but mostly caters to high tech products.

One of the bonuses of Technorati is that it’s all in real-time. As soon as somebody says something, it’s there for you to read. You can subscribe to topics, tags and users in order to monitor the online conversations that affect you.

The top tags on Technorati are current events and technological stuff. There is a lot of stuff about the Nintendo Wii and other hot gaming news. You can also find lots of blog posts and articles about the war in Iraq, George Bush, Barack Obama, and other things making headlines.

Technorati’s favorite blogs are all tech blogs. The most popular (”favorited”) are Engadget, Gizmodo and stuff like that. High tech is the main interest of Technorati users.

Users also like videos. There is a variety of random videos on Technorati, with no particular theme or topic prevailing. There are cutesy animal videos, political satire videos, pretty much anything.

There are a lot of links on current movies, books, music and television. Users pick what they’re watching, reading or listening to right now, and the link on Technorati takes to you the Internet Movie Database or Amazon.com.

If you have a blog, you can “claim your blog” on Technorati and make it available to other users. You create another profile, with a picture and description, and it will direct traffic to your blog. You can also have Technorati manage your link of favorite blogs for you.

For easy use of Technorati options, you can install a Technorati toolbar on your browser. All you have to do is click on the “Technorati this!” button, and it automatically adds it to your favorites.

Technorati will also keep track of who is looking at your blog and give you the numbers. It also offers plug-ins, widgets and loads of tools for developers. Technorati has lots of features and applications that can be used with developer software.
