Netvous

Netvous is a site where you can save your bookmarks and share them with your friends. Its tagging system makes it easy for you to search and find other things you like online.

The front page lists the most recently added sites. On the day I looked, they included a Super Bowl advertising video, a page with some tools for Macs, some videos of beer advertisements on TV, a site that has books on MP3, and a site for Sinn Fein.

The most popular links included sites related to sports, cars, searching the web, computers, porn sites (just one or two), weather, news and other general information. Netvouz seems to be full of all kinds of different stuff; it’s not tailored to any specific interests or types of sites.

On your profile, you have your categories displayed in the middle and underneath it lists your links. You can select the sites you look at most often as “hotpicks,” and they will be displayed at the top where you can get to them easily.

It has an automatic link checker that makes sure your favorite sites are still there. If a site disappears, the link checker lets you know. It also changes the URL automatically if the site moves.

You can get a Netvouz button for your browser so that all you have to do is click it and it saves the site. You can also import and export your sites from your computer or another social bookmarking site. Netvouz uses Java and RSS feeds, so you can subscribe to your favorite sites.

On the right side of the Netvouz main page is a list of the most popular tags. There are about 40 or so listed there in alphabetical order. If you are thinking about using Netvouz to promote your site or blog, you can check relevant tags and see how much stuff is there.

There are no subjects that clearly dominate Netvouz, but tech stuff, business, current events and videos are all popular. Users can rank their favorite sites and these end up on the most popular page.

You can also search for particular users. Every link listing gives the tags, a short description (written by the user), and a link to the user’s profile so that you can check out what other stuff they’ve posted.
